The strength of KMess is it's integration with the KDE desktop environment, focus on MSN Messenger specific features and an easy-to-use interface.

KMess interface
- You can show or hide offline contacts.
- You can show or hide the special "allowed" and "removed" groups to modify them from the contact list.
- Organize the contact list by group or by online/offline status.
- Groups show a count of the contacts online (i.e. "Friends (2/5)")
- Chat window sidebar with an emphasis on contact images. Multiple contact will be displayed in the sidebar with a group-chat.
- Alternating and flashing taskbar entry to inform of a received message.
- A background picture was added to the contact list.
